Gue baca di grndbrkr, ada komentar Yamada-kantoku di TV Guide.
Kata Yamada, ternyata bakat Takuya jauh melampaui dari apa yg dia bayangkan, & Takuya cepet nangkep semua arahan. Takuya juga ngajuin saran2 yg bikin Yamada dpt pandangan2 baru. Trus katanya syuting film kali ini ternyata penuh dgn kejutan2 menyenangkan. Yamada juga muji keahlian pedang Takuya. Katanya adegan duel di penghujung film bener2 exciting.
Waaa, ga sabar pengen liat Takuya duel pake pedang samurai... Eh, kok jadi kangen pengen liat Kusanagi Musashi ya...*bongkar2 cd2 SxS*

Usually, every year, the Tokyo Film Festival will showcase a Western movie that would be showing at the end of the year, but this year, Bushi , which was to be aired in December will be shown on October 20, 2006 on the Pre-Tokyo Film Festival night and is the world premiere for the movie. Tokyo Film Festival officially opens on October 23. Yoji Yamada said that he is excited to have worked with Kimura and Rei Dan and be on the same stage with them. Yoji Yamada's final bow to the jidai geki

In advance of the release of his latest effort, TWILIGHT SAMURAI director Yoji Yamada has confirmed that he is done with making samurai movies. The announcement originally came in August at a press conference to promote BUSHI NO ICHIBUN, his third and final jidai geki.
The 74-year old veteran filmmaker has spent most of his career making comedies, but in 2002 shifted gears to take on Japan's long-enduring samurai movie genre with the release of THE TWLIGHT SAMURAI (TASOGARE SEIBEI) starring Hiroyuki Sanada. The period drama was very well received at home and abroad and was followed up with THE HIDDEN BLADE (KAKUSHI KEN ONI NO TSUME) in 2004. All three films were produced by Shochiku Co., Ltd.
BUSHI NO ICHIBUN, which follows the relationship between a young blind samurai (Takuya Kimura) and his wife (Rei Dan), is set to premiere at the 19th Tokyo International Film Festival. The fest runs October 21st through the 29th. The film is scheduled to open in Tokyo on December 1st, 2006.
Kimura, a 33-year old TV star and member of pop music quintet SMAP, broke out on the big screen internationally in Wong Kar-wai's 2046 (2004). His ICHIBUN costar Rei Dan is a former member of the all-female Takarazuka theater troupe. Veteran actor Ken Ogata (SAMURAI REINCARNATION, IZO) also appears.
All three of Yamada's samurai films have been adapted from the works of novelist Shuhei Fujisawa. BUSHI NO ICHIBUN is based on the short story MOMOKU-KEN KODAMA-GAESHI.
The official site for BUSHI NO ICHIBUN is up, but text is in Japanese and the site appears incomplete. A teaser trailer can be found there, but it doesn't show anything of interest.

Third installment in Yoji Yamada's samurai trilogy opens nine-day-long extravaganzaThe 19th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which will take place from Oct. 21 to Oct. 29. opened Friday evening at Roppongi Hills Arena in central Tokyo with a premier screening of Yoji Yamada's samurai movie "Bushi no Ichibun" ("Love and Honor"). To the Japanese, Yamada is a much-respected director, famously known as the creator of the world's longest running film franchise "Otaku wa Tsurari yo" ("It's Hard to Be a Man"). The 48 installments spanned nearly 30 years. They were very popular among the Japanese, generation after generation. Overseas, Yamada gained popularity after releasing "Twilight Samurai" (2002). Foreign movie critics called it "the first ninja or samurai movie that made us cry." The film was nominated for an American Academy Award as Best Foreign Language Film. His second samurai movie, "The Hidden Blade" (2004), also received international attention. It was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. "Love and Honor" is the first Japanese movie to appear in the "Opening Eve World Premiere" at TIFF. At the reception before the screening, the chairman of TIFF, Tsuguhiko Kadokawa, said that the festival this year was proud to celebrate the release of the final film in Yamada's samurai trilogy, which is based on the works of Japanese author Shuhei Fujisawa. Yamada and three leading actors and actresses were especially welcomed at the ceremony, greeted by hundreds of fans in front of the arena. The leading actor, Takuya Kimura (who plays Shinnojo Mimura, a blind low-ranked samurai) is a member of a popular boy band, SMAP. Kimura has played in a vast number of Japanese TV dramas, and was involved in an international film project titled "2046" (2004), directed by Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai. "2046" was shown at the Cannes Film Festival and won the New York Film Critics Award last year for the Best Foreign Language Film. In his speech, Yamada explained the difficulty he found translating "ichibun," from the title, into English: "The word describes hope, love, dream, dignity and all of the basic value in human's life. My staff later told me that 'love and honor' is the right expression." Fifteen movies will be screened during the main "Competition" portion of the festival. One will win the "Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix," worth U.S. $100,000. According to the organizers, they were selected from 614 entries from 66 countries. "The Flags of Our Fathers," the latest from American actor/director Clint Eastwood, will be shown at a special screening on Saturday. The movie depicts the battle of Iwo Jima during World War II from an American point of view. As the biggest film festival in Asia, TIFF has become a popular event at which to enjoy high-class movies from Asian countries, as they compete to win the Best Asian Film Award in the Winds of Asia portion of the festival. There are 37 films in this year's "Winds of Asia." Last year's winner, Yasmin Ahmad, a talented and internationally acclaimed Malaysian director, will premiere her latest movie, "Muskhsin," in a special section called "Malaysian Film: Truly Asia." The festival will also present two prizes in the "Japanese Eyes" section, in which 13 films are competing, and present its Akira Kurosawa Award. The festival also includes tribute screenings and supporting projects, which includes a short-film competition, the 19th Tokyo International Women's Film Festival and the Tokyo Asia Pacific Entertainment Festival. Korean Cinema Week, a supporting project celebrating its 6th anniversary, will present five Korean masterworks at the festival.
