DEKITA!!!!!!!!!Minna, akhirnya, berkat doa2nya, episode pertama Saiyuuki sebesar 1,1 GB selesai gw download!!!!!Senang ^^Btw emang kuping gw yaang salah nangkep, eri fukatsu di sini jadi bikuni yak, bukan biksu?Berantem2nya buta, kappa, dengan son goku lucu, suki.. Tapi kok gw ngerasa si bikuni kesannya masih "keduniawian", apa gw masih kebawa dendam slow dance ya? LOLOk, sesudah posting gw langsung nonton full, tanpa skip2an.

Can Canadian-Japanese Monkey Majik fly high?

It's tough for foreign musicians to make a name for themselves in the Japanese market, but teaming up with local artists can sometimes make all the difference.
Successful examples of this kind of "joint venture" approach include Japan-based '70s bands such as Shogun (featuring Casey Rankin) and Godaigo (featuring Tommy Snyder and Steve Fox).
Monkey Majik, a Sendai-based group comprising two Canadians and two Japanese, is hoping to follow in those bands' hit-making footsteps. In fact the group's name was inspired by Godaigo's hit "Monkey Magic."
Unlike the non-Japanese members of Shogun and Godaigo, who had their eyes set on musical careers from the word go, Monkey Majik's two Canadians--brothers Maynard and Blaise Plant--left their native Ottawa to work in Japan as English teachers, although both brothers had been playing and writing music before they came here. Blaise arrived in Aomori in 1998 as part of the JET program, while brother Maynard came soon after to teach in Sendai.
Maynard says there was no master plan behind Monkey Majik.
"The band thing just sort of developed on its own," he explains. "Sometime in the spring of 2000 I was asked to play a few songs at an international festival in Hachinohe, Aomori [Prefecture]. A few friends of mine [Japanese, British and Canadian] could play instruments, so we thought it would be a fun idea to play as a band."
Maynard had been working on some original songs, so he and his friends decided to play those rather than do covers.
"We had a lot of fun and decided to continue playing gigs," Maynard adds.
However, the future of the nascent Monkey Majik was cast in doubt when two of the band's members left Japan.
"I really wanted to continue playing and writing music in Japan, so I called up my younger brother, Blaise, who had been writing songs for years, and asked him to come and join me," Maynard says. "We then moved to Sendai and immediately befriended current drummer Tax [Takuya Kikuchi]."
Rounding out the band's lineup is Japanese bassist Hideki "Dick." The quartet started to make a name for itself in the Sendai area, and in May 2002 Tower Records Sendai released their debut mini-album, Tired.
A deal with independent label Under Horse Records then followed, and Monkey Majik's first full-length album, Spade, spent 13 weeks at the top of Tower Records Sendai's in-store chart after its release in September 2004.
What really kick-started Monkey Majik's career was when the band's February 2005 mini-album, Lily, made it to No. 16 on Oricon's independent-album chart. The resulting nationwide buzz led Japan's second-biggest label, Avex, to sign Monkey Majik.
Blaise describes Monkey Majik's music as "pop rock," but what separates Monkey Majik's music from that of countless other pop-rock bands is its unique twin-guitar, twin-vocal style--plus the fact that Maynard and Blaise sing in English and Japanese.
Monkey Majik's first single for Avex, "Fly," which was released Jan. 18, displays the band's skills to good effect. After a couple of verses in English, the vocals suddenly shift into Japanese as the chorus begins. That shows songwriting savvy on Monkey Majik's part as the listener's attention is drawn to the beautiful, sweeping melody of the chorus instead of being distracted by the novelty of Canadians singing in Japanese.
"Fly" is full of catchy hooks--perhaps a little self-consciously so--and is very radio-friendly. The English lyrics are somewhat unfocused, however, and could use some work. This writer will leave it to his Japanese readers to decide on the quality of the song's Japanese bits.
The Plant brothers are the band's main songwriters, although Kikuchi and others help with Monkey Majik's Japanese lyrics.
"Monkey Majik has always been a Japanese band," Blaise says. "We have been singing in both Japanese and English since the beginning."
Communicating with listeners in two languages is one thing, but how do the members of Monkey Majik communicate among themselves?
"My brother is totally fluent in Japanese, and I'm confident with mine," Blaise says. "We all talk to each other in Japanese, but of course, my brother and I speak English to each other when we're alone."
The coming months will tell if Monkey Majik can match the recent success of another bicultural Japan-based music act, pop/rap duo Def Tech, whose self-titled debut album was Japan's top-selling album (2.3 million copies) in 2005, according to SoundScan Japan.
That's a tantalizing prospect, but Blaise says Monkey Majik will press on regardless of the vagaries of the hit charts.
"We just want to keep doing what we're doing," he says. "Keep moving ahead and challenging ourselves with fresh ideas."
"Fly" is out now on Avex's Binyl Records.

Kyaaa...saiyuki emang top banget.waktu kapan hari liat hasil d/l-nya 'seorang teman di jakarta',aku sampe melongo,gilaa... shingo keren banget mainin tongkatnya.dah gitu kimuraaa...ga kuat *menghela napas panjang* bener2 keren, sugoiiiii.speacless dah.ga peduliin siapapun yg lagi ada di situ,lagi ngobrolin apa kek,yg penting liat shingo dulu,habis kerennya minta ampun.

Saiyuuki episode 5 yg baru tayang Senin kemaren, judulnya "Land of Children". Kawaaaaiiiiii........!!!!! Songokuu disuruh ngurus bayi dan anak kecil!!! Hahaha....Goku Papa!! Aduuuh....gue paling lemah kalo liat member SMAP gendong2 bayi....pasti bawaannya gue jadi makin cintaaa... 
Tapi ini dorama bener2 kacau deh....masa' di khayangan tempat para dewa, ada "buah payudara" yg berisi susu identik dengan ASI!! xD Tapi ama dewa kakek2nya (atau dewa polisi? yg slalu nangkepin demons-nya di akhir tiap episode xD), buah itu selalu dielus2! xD Cacat banget...LOL!
Anyway, Saiyuuki ini daripada silat, isinya lebih bener2 "drama Jepang". Tipe2 apa ya? Be Nice To People? Gokusen? Dimana di setiap episode selalu dibuat terngakak2, tapi kemudian kita dibuat meneteskan air mata, karena terharu x)
Jujur, gue bener2 khawatir akan pandangan internasional, terutama orang Cina terhadap dorama Saiyuuki ini. Karena daripada adaptasi legenda Xi You Ji, Saiyuuki ini lebih kayak tokusatsu xD Pola tiap episode-nya kayak Kamen Rider gitu. Yah, kalo gitu mix 'tokusatsu' dan 'dorama' deh! x)
Eh, udah 5 episode, bentar lagi 6, berlalu...kok, member smap laen belon muncul juga...? =( Apa jangan2 gak jadi muncul semua ya....? Jadinya cuma Takuya aja?

The return of the 'Monkey'

An interpretation of the classic Chinese tale Xi You Ji, or Saiyuki in Japanese, which is being aired by the Fuji TV network on Mondays at 9 p.m., is enjoying worldwide attention. While broadcasting the fantasy drama series recently started in Taiwan, it is also set to air in South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong. Fuji TV said it is receiving inquiries from England--where an earlier version aired under the title Monkey--and other countries as well. Moreover, the program is receiving wide coverage in the foreign media thanks to the name recognition of the original story.
Reporters from two Taiwan newspapers visited the set of Saiyuki in a Tokyo studio last month. Tsao Heng of Liberty Times and Hung Chin-chu of China Times looked at the set's Chinese-style buildings and observed the acting performance of Shingo Katori, who plays the lead role of Songoku, the monkey king. The two reporters eagerly listened to the explanations of TV station officials, while taking notes.
Saiyuki (Journey to the West) scored a high viewer rating of 29.2 percent when the show started in Japan on Jan. 9. According to Video Research Co., it was the sixth-highest figure recorded by a commercially broadcast thriller or action program since 1977.
In the program, Mitsuyoshi Uchimura plays the river monster Sagojo, and Atsushi Ito plays pig-monster Chohakkai. These two characters, along with Songoku, accompany and protect Buddhist monk Sanzohoshi (Eri Fukatsu) as the four travel on a pilgrimage to India to obtain holy scriptures.
Broadcasts of the program in Taiwan began on Jan. 28 to match the start of the Chinese New Year. Saiyuki is shown there on a Japanese-program channel of the Taiwan cable television provider Videoland, with which Fuji TV has a partnership.
Hung says Saiyuki is a kind of story with which she is very familiar, thanks to television programs she has seen since childhood. "I'm very much interested in how people in Japan produce the drama. I'd like to know especially how computer graphics, action and sets are used in the program."
Tsao said the drama would be enjoyed in Taiwan by elderly people who received Japanese education during the period of Japanese rule and also by people in their 30s and younger who are well acquainted with contemporary Japanese dramas. She expected that both groups would enjoy watching how Katori of SMAP, a Japanese pop group that is popular in Taiwan, handles the main role of Songoku, one of the most well-known and beloved fictional characters in Chinese literature.
The original Japanese television version of Saiyuki, in which Masaaki Sakai played Songoku, was aired from 1978 to 1980 on NTV. It was broadcast in countries including Britain and Australia in English, under the title Monkey.
The program generated much attention thanks to its witty, humorous performances and the hit theme song "Monkey Magic" by popular band Godiego. There is even a Web site paying homage to the older version of Saiyuki for fans all over the world.
According to Fuji TV, inquiries about the program have also been made from broadcasters in mainland China and Thailand as well as a television program production company in Britain. The Times newspaper and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation also visited the shooting site to cover the program.
Shane McLeod, 30, Tokyo bureau chief of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, said he himself enjoyed the older version of the show when he was around 10. He said he remembered his younger brother made a nyoibo, a kind of battle club used by Songoku.
According to McLeod, the new Songoku is different from the earlier version as he has golden hair and is more active compared to Sakai's interpretation. Although he seldom covers Japanese television programs, McLeod says information on the new Saiyuki will spark interest among Australians in their 20s to 40s.
Given the potential for broadcasts overseas, Fuji TV is making an effort to ensure that things go smoothly right from the beginning.
"We are refraining from using copyrighted material, and that includes Western music and library pictures [for backgrounds or atmosphere]," an official of Fuji TV's international bureau said. The official said the Taiwan broadcaster airs the program three weeks behind Japan to make time for translation and dubbing work.
"We are cooperating with people working on the set to ensure trouble-free broadcasting of the program in foreign countries," said the official, who added he had high hopes for the international success of the golden-haired Songoku.

Saiyuki will be having a movie version with its original cast as announced during its SP shown on 27 March. Jujur, my verdict on Saiyuuki: an enjoyable, funny drama!!^^ Enggak WOW kyk Shinsengumi, enggak se-KEREN Hito ni Yasashiku juga....but just enjoyable and entertaining(rasanya kyk nonton GOKUSEN....yg pertama)^^ Dan sebisa gue utk objektif, nurut gue, Saiyuuki gak se-jelek kata orang2....walopun gue bisa ngerti juga kenapa orang2 meng-kritik Saiyuuki...tapi menurut gue, Saiyuuki is not something to take seriously....salah para orang yg meng-kritik mungkin mengharapkan serial yang "seriously made"....kayak film2 taiga kolosal gitu.
Season ini, yg bener2 gue ikutin tiap minggu-nya selama 3 bulan cuma Saiyuuki dan Byakuyakou(oy!! minerva! This season is not boring-lah! I disagree with you! =P). Dua dorama ini bener2 kontras...yang satu nontonnya bikin terhibur, yg satu nontonnya musti pake mikir. Tapi Byakuyakou itu emang genre/tipe2 cerita kegemaran gue...cita2 gue bisa jadi pengarang cerita misteri yg sukses kayak gitu^^ Dari segi kualitas cerita dan keseluruhan produksi, Byakuyakou jauh di atas Saiyuuki.
Tapi, hari ini gue nonton Byakuyakou finals duluan.....huhuhu, nyesek banget (kalo yg gak pengen perasaan seperti saat menonton ending Sorakara terulang, gak usah nonton Byakuyakou T_T Kecuali kalo emg fans berat Yamada Takayuki atau penggemar cerita misteri kyk gue^^). KERASA BANGET, abis itu nonton ending Saiyuuki...walopun ada bagian2 yg bikin gue berlinang2 juga....tapi ending-nya bener2 bikin puas dan melegakan!!!^0^ Mengobati rasa depresi gue setelah ntn ending Byakuyakou!^^ Hihihi....untung gue ntn Saiyuuki belakangan.
Jyaa....pokoknya, Songokuu daisukiiiiii~~!!!! hihihi...
Oh iya....gak jadi ada member SMAP laen jd guest x) Mungkin di movie-nya?? xD

Eh...minna-san!! Kayaknya beneran yah, Saiyuuki mau ditayangin di Indonesia??? Di Saiyuuki The Making yg gue tonton, disebutin Saiyuuki bakal ditayangin di mana aja. Sekarang sedang tayang di Singapore, Taiwan, dan bbrp negara laennya. Terus abis itu disebut Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, UK, Australia.....kayaknya negara2 yg ini bakal nyusul menayangkan.
Wah, gue jadi penasaran....FujiTV nego ama stasiun TV mana di sini?? xD Paling mungkin kayaknya INDOSIAR kali ya? haha! Yatta....!!! Shingo mulai merajalela di Indonesia....setelah Hattori-kun, dia kembali datang jadi Son Gokuu!!!^^

Heh? benarkah? ureshii ^^ hmm.. gue lebih berharap jaktv yg nayangin Saiyuuki, soalnya kemungkinan besar gak didubbing kan. Tapi kayaknya ekmungkinan besar emang indosiar yah, soalnya yg gue tau indosiar udh 2 kali memuat artikel ttg Saiyuuki. Jaktv malahan belom pernah kayaknya muterin dorama.
Yah, walopun didubbing kita2 pasti senang toh? dan merasa bangga tentunya. Biar orang indo gak cuma tau Takuya doang ^^ Mengikuti kata Minerva: SMAP BANZAAII!!!

Shingo is in Cannes now and this article touched on the production costs of the series, the casts, the ratings and the upcoming film.

Shingo earlier was in Cannes Film Festival and appeared as Monkey King at a beach party and performed a bit to promote the upcoming movie.
Without the need for interpreters, Shingo memorized the English and French lines he performed in so as not to be embarrassed. "I enjoy playing the role of the Monkey King. I hope that next summer the movie would be released. Cannes is very hot. I will stay for three days but I don't have the time to go walk around."
Shingo said that before he left, he received an email from Kimura and he said, "Kimura told me to enjoy my Cannes trip and that I have to bring back chocolate that has the film festival logo on for him. I hope that next year, I could come with the movie Saiyuuki to Cannes again. I promise I would walk the red carpet in my monkey king outfit. But the most is I'll put on the head ring!" At the beach party, Shingo was very active and was amenable to everyone who wanted to take photos with him. A guest from HK said that she didn't know that monkey king could be so handsome."
The production company for Monkey King also gave out promotional badges and chocolate to the guests.

Akhirnya, hari Minggu kemarin dihabiskan dgn menghajar nonton drama ini. Gue ma Kiki (my eldest~Tsuyo ichiban lho) jatuh cinta sama siluman burung.....keh..keh....enggak rela aja aja liat Siluman burungnya kalah sama Songoku. Untung sutradaranya paham ya? (sama perasaan penonton). Jadi enggak diliatin kalahnya, bagus deh. Nontonnya pake menghela napas ~ tanda2 rada boring (???) dan disambi baca komik, pake agak2 F/F. Yang jelas, selesai nonton....(dari pagi sampe sore), hasilnya puyeng berat.......
Adengan favorit tentang Goku, pas Rin2 dikira tewas. Shingo gaya bingungnya bener2 kayak Goku (alias: monyet.). Masih belum 'bengong' liat Shingo acting (yg 4 laen udah)..... Seperti kata anak gue..."shingo ya shingo..." (masih blum keapus bener shingonya.....) ~ jangan ditimpuk ya, Yan... blakangan ini, suka Shingo di ending song..... suaranya makin mantep.
Adegan (& tokoh) favorit (dari seluruh film)...... ya siluman burung itu lah.... kereeeeen.........

Udaaahhhh.... kapan hari waktu jalan2 ternyata nemu dvd-nya, temenku sih yg bilang lho, ini kan shingo *dia apalnya shingo doang* krn tak rela dibeli orang lain maka ku beli dgn terpaksa *maklum belum gajian jadi hrs rogoh lebih dalam*
tapi belum sempat liat sih, keburu dipinjem duluan sama temenku itu. kualitas gambar sih bagus cuma subtittlenya ancur, tahu lah bajakan gitu.
